GlassKote Float Glass Industry announces investment of over AUD 1.2 billion to build new plant

GlassKote FGI has received AUD 1.2 billion to build two next-generation low iron float glass plants, setting new global standards for innovation and sustainable development.

Project 1: Queensland, Australia 700 tons/day low iron float glass+400 tons/day WtE large factory

GlassKote FGI Private Limited (GK) has confirmed funding of over AUD 1.2 billion for the construction of two of the world's most advanced low iron float glass factories. The first factory will start construction in Queensland, Australia in early 2026, and the second factory will begin construction in the United Arab Emirates in the coming months. These factories will not only resume the production of sovereign glass that is most needed, but also set new global benchmarks for innovation, sustainability, and AI driven performance in the fields of building environment, renewable energy, defense, and consumer technology.

GK's Queensland project is set to launch in early 2026. The factory will fill Australia's glass supply gap, produce its own renewable energy, and export surplus electricity, making it one of the most sustainable glass factories in history. In the second year after the large-scale factory in Queensland is put into operation, GK will begin building its second 700 ton/day standard float glass factory in Australia

The Queensland factory proudly offers 100% Australian made glass, produced entirely from locally sourced materials and components. This commitment supports employment opportunities in Australia, strengthens national manufacturing sovereignty, and promotes a truly circular, local economy.

Project 2: UAE 1000 ton per day low iron float glass super factory

The UAE facility to be put into operation in mid-2026 will be the largest and most technologically advanced factory of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa region. Produce 1000 tons of high-quality low iron float glass per day for use in construction, renewable energy, and specialty markets.
